At the December 16th Open Meeting of the Railroad Commission of Texas, Commission Shift Executive Director Virginia Palacios delivered public comments about the commissioners’ accountability to their financial and campaign interests, the potential dangers of primary oversight of carbon capture and storage (CCS) by the commission, and the importance of remote public input at future open meetings.
Commission Shift Policy Manager Julie Range also delivered public comments about the Railroad Commission’s primary oversight or “primacy” of carbon capture and storage (CCS), and how residents of Cheek, Texas are worried about potential risks to their community as a result of CCS buildout.
