We are thrilled to announce the winner of our second annual poster contest! After careful consideration, Commission Shift staff have selected Darcie Delgado’s design titled “Protect Our Future.”

The theme for this year’s contest was “Generational Responsibility.” The choices we make today will impact our families for generations to come. Decision-makers have a responsibility to manage change and to plan for the future.

Darcie’s first place prize is $800. The winning poster will also be featured in Commission Shift’s communications and advocacy materials, including our website, social media, and promotional products for our outreach events.

We are grateful to everyone who participated, helped raise awareness, and gave a vision to our work. Thank you for your support, and congratulations to Darcie!

Artist Statement — Darcie Delgado is a graphic designer and illustrator from Azle, Texas, who draws inspiration from her experiences living in the state. She utilizes a variety of techniques, including hand-drawn calligraphy and digital painting, to imbue her pieces with unique character and emotion. “Protect Our Future” symbolizes how our current decisions affect future generations and the environment, emphasizing the importance of fighting to protect our world’s future.

Artist Statement — My name is Hilda Beltran. I’m the mother of Jose Luis, a beautiful boy with autism, which is the main reason I moved to Laredo, seeking specialized education for him. I studied fashion design and have been designing wedding dresses for 30 years. I’m passionate about drawing and find in it an opportunity to visually express what words sometimes fall short of, like this opportunity to capture in images the hope for the future of children.
