Commission Shift Executive Director Virginia Palacios told us she favors restricting campaign fundraising for commissioners to an 18-month window with limits of $5,000 per campaign cycle, as in judicial races. One or both of those changes seem like the kind of reform that would clear away the cloud of doubt. Tightening up recusal standards would also help restore public trust.
We support a diversified and robust energy industry, which is critical to our state. But we must have an agency whose oversight of that industry is above reproach.
