On May 17, 2022, Commission Shift’s Executive Director, Virginia Palacios visited several sites in Pecos County with landowner Schuyler Wight. The sites include several types of abandoned and orphaned wells or active hazards caused by such wells including this sulphur well.

This is another legacy undocumented well that was believed to be a sulphur well under the jurisdiction of the Railroad Commission. The well is known to produce hydrogen sulfide, which can cause nausea, vomiting, and convulsions in animals and people.
