Based in Houston, SJ (she/her) was previously at Texas Campaign for the Environment where she began as a canvasser and moved into the role of communications coordinator. She has worked on various digital and grassroots campaigns, from building public support for city-wide climate solutions, to advocacy for fixing the Texas energy grid.
She holds a Masters degree in Literature from West Virginia University and completed coursework towards a PhD in Literature at Rice University, where she taught undergraduates and coached at the writing center. Her graduate education is also where SJ was exposed to the work of writers and social movement leaders that inspired her interest in political and civic engagement. SJ is always looking for creative ways to bring her background in writing and rhetoric to build community and advance changes at the RRC that improve the agency’s function, transparency, and
accountability to people and places impacted by the oil and gas industry.
In her free time, she likes to read, explore Texas, make art, ramble outside, and scour Houston for the perfect fried pickle.
