“The Railroad Commission is our state’s oil and gas oversight agency, they have nothing to do with railroads,” Executive Director of Commission Shift Virginia Palacios said. “The Railroad Commission knew 10 years ago that it needed to require gas well and pipeline operators to weatherize their facilities after we experienced severe winter storms in 2011. They didn’t act, and that’s why our gas supply chain froze up last February causing power generators to fail.
