Paige Powell

Policy Manager

As the saying goes, Paige “wasn’t born here, but got here as quick as she could!” She moved with her family from Cancer Alley, Louisiana to the Petro Metro of Houston, Texas at the age of two months old; grew up in the Houston area; and suffered with asthma as a child – a formative experience which sparked both a passion for air quality advocacy and a lifelong commitment to help advance common-sense environmental policy.

Paige (she/they) has served in the public, nonprofit, and education sectors for nearly two decades, working to promote environmental stewardship, advance social justice, and improve quality of life in the greater Houston region. Most recently, they served as Deputy / Interim Executive Director for Citizens’ Environmental Coalition; and prior to that, spent eight years at Air Alliance Houston working across development, policy, operations, education, and advocacy.

Paige is a two-time alumnus of the University of Houston (Master of Public Policy; Bachelor of Arts, Economics), Certified Public Manager, and Climate Reality Leader trained in 2016. She serves the local environmental community as a Steering Committee member for the Houston Climate Movement; Equity Working Group member for the City of Houston Climate Action Plan; and is a Community Fellow in the Environmental Studies department at Rice University.

Outside of environmental activism, Paige is a mother, Scouter, Unitarian Universalist, backyard gardener, musician, and yogi. They are excited to join the Commission Shift team and look forward to helping reduce carbon emissions through improved industry oversight in Texas.
